Work so far undertaken

  1. Preliminary activities related to preservation and consdrvation of heritage buildings/structures and areas in Mysore, Srirangapattana, Bijapur, Bidar, Gulbarga and Kittur are in progress.
  1. Commissioner, Heritage, Archaeology and Museums conducted meetings with concerned Deputy Commissioners, local officers, archaeologists, historians, artists, environmentalists, urban planners, conservation architects, senior citizens of respective heritage areas at Mysore, Srirangapattana, Bijapur, Bidar, Gulbarga and Kittur and obtained action plans for developing and conserving these heritage areas.
  1.  Proposal for formation of six heritage conservation committees for these heritage areas under the chairmanship of concerned Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner, Urban Development Authority as member-secretary has been made.   Likewise a proposal has been made  for the constitution of a  sub-committee under the Chairmanship of Commissioner,  Heritage, Archaeology and Museums for Karnataka Heritage Task Force   (which serves as a standing committee) and Karnataka Heritage Task Force Committee under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, will steer the various conservation and development programmes of Heritage of  Karnataka.
  1. Draft regulation for conservation of Heritage sites including buildings, heritage precincts and natural features of environmental significance or sites of  scenic beauty to be incorporated in Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act, 1961 has been proposed to Secretary, Urban Development in consultation and discussion with Director, Town Planning Department and Deputy Secretary, Law Department.
  1. Expressions of interest were invited from eligible persons to render Technical Consultancy Services for restoration and conservation of heritage buildings/structures in six heritage areas.
